Dance with me: a love letter

This petite memoir is about love — love between parents and children, husband and wife, grandparents and grandchildren. Between dancers and dance.

Written it over the three years after the passing of my grandmother Lilli Diamond, a beautiful dancer and muse, it is fitting that it came to completion during a time of isolation, when a pandemic took away our cherished gatherings — for me, dance class, where I felt my grandmother’s presence vividly.

Let this book be my small gift from the heart to her and to you. Dance with me.

Yay, Laura! So excited to read your new publication about a topic so dear to my heart, and I look forward to learning more about Lily! I have not caught up on your blog since you arrived in PA so I’ll have to go backwards and find out what’s been going on and then maybe we can schedule a phone call one of these days? Lots of love, Chloe

Beautiful. Congratulations Laura. That’s a great photo on the cover. And a theme that the world sorely needs to consider in this discordant time. It was a pleasure to have met Lilli and spent some time with you all together.

Hoping we can all dance again on the other side of November 3rd.

    All best wishes, Kevin

Thank you, Kevin, for your good wishes. I had not remembered that you met Lilli! I wish I knew who took that photo, but should at least give some attribution that it is Lilli and Al Diamond, posing on the factory floor of Lilli Diamond Originals, the dress company he named for her, in downtown Los Angeles. Let’s dance up to, including, and beyond…
