Confession: I was once kicked out of a book club for poor attendance. Perhaps that’s why I am always delighted to be asked to join a book club to discuss Shelter Us.
What we talk about depends on you. Some book clubs want to talk about how journal writing led to memoir writing led to novel writing; where did the characters and story come from; or the social issues raised in the book, like what is our obligation to help people in need, what are ways we can make a true difference, and how do we talk to our children about big ideas, like life and death and God? Other book clubs want to talk about the wine and snacks and friendship!
